本剧基于同名原著，这本书还有个副标题“A Story of Violent Faith”。“Under the Banner of Heaven”这个短语出自LDS教会第三任首领John Taylor在1880年的一次演讲，“God is greater than the United States, and when the Government conflicts with heaven, we will be ranged under the banner of heaven against the Government.
